After Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United scored another winner against Fulham, Erik ten Hag took aim at his detractors.
With a goal in the final seconds, the Portuguese midfielder gave United a hard-earned Premier League victory over Fulham on Saturday. This was Fernandes’ third goal of the year, and ironically, the team won with all three of his efforts.
After the game, manager Erik ten Hag showered his captain with praise, slamming the naysayers and declaring that the 29-year-old sets an example for the team on the field.
The United manager remarked, “I don’t understand it (the criticism),” when speaking to reporters. He accomplishes a lot of excellent things, yet nobody is flawless and everyone makes mistakes. He consistently demonstrates his leadership qualities as a captain. You witnessed his effort, his pressure, and his score today, which is why he is so crucial to us.”
Club icon and former captain Roy Keane criticized the former Sporting player and questioned his leadership qualities following the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby.
