At this year’s Brit Awards, which were held on Saturday night at London’s 02 Arena, Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema were unable to secure an award, thereby prolonging Nigeria’s losing streak at the country’s most prestigious music awards festival.
SZA, an American celebrity, defeated Burna Boy and Asake in the Best International Act of the Year competition.
Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” defeated Rema’s “Calm Down” for the title of Best International Song of the Year.
Rema sang his hit song “Calm Down” as an exhilarating finale to the ceremony, even though it was a loss.
Following Burna Boy’s 2019 performance at the ceremony, he became just the second African musician to perform at the BRITs.
In the meantime, Raye has maintained her record as the BRITs’ artist with the most victories in a single year.
Best New Artist, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best R&B Act, and Songwriter of the Year were among the six honors she won Friday night.
