The 10-year-old son of American rapper Lil Durk is suspected of shooting Joshua Pippens, his stepdad, following a fight with the child’s mother.
The incident that was caught on tape was when the child allegedly took a gun from Joshua Pippens, his stepdad, pointed it at him, and pulled the trigger.
Pippens, dressed in orange, is seen in the video trying to hold the child’s mother, dressed in purple, in check. The youngster, dressed in shorts and a red t-shirt, points what appears to be a gun at Pippens in the middle of the altercation.
The child then points the gun toward Pippens, and there is a single shot fired. Then, Pippens is shown getting hit by a gunshot and falling to the ground.
Ever since the shooting event on July 1, Pippens has spoken out from his hospital bed.
He wrote, “As y’all can see I was not the aggressor. And y’all also can see how I still had my gun on my hip. He grabbed my gun off my hip following his mom’s lead and tried to shoot me and then actually shot me.
“My gun was on my hip and I was trying to protect myself from getting shot. I never in a million years thought a kid I bought four wheelers and paid football leagues and everything would do this but he only knows what mom shows him. I still love him like he’s mine.”
Pippins speculated that the disagreement might have centered on the couple’s shared child’s custody rights.
“Whatever makes y’all feel better. That’s why I got custody of my kids and she don’t. Y’all so internet think [sic] god it was me that took the shot and not her,” he wrote.
Rapper Lil Durk has not yet responded to the event.
