The head of the Local Government Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, says his outfit needs a lot of funds to push through its initiatives.
According to him, his office depends solely on private partners to sustain its programs.
Speaking to the media at the launch of the enhanced service training program for Local Government staff, he indicated that there is a need for sustainable funding to champion the course of building capacities of its staff members.
“We need to build the capacities of our staff to be able to deliver efficient service. It is on the basis of this that the Local Government Service in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government studies have come together with what we call an enhanced scheme of the service training programme.”
“This has come with programs tailor-measured with the staff of the service for their promotional requirements, also to enable them to deliver quality services. That is what we’ve launched. One major challenge that you may ask is sustainable funding for this project. If you are asking the service staff as a requirement towards their promotion, I believe that it would be unfair to only allow them to pay for the project.”
