Former PSG player Jerome Rothen has stated the key reason Kylian Mbappe won’t be selected as the team’s new captain by France head coach Didier Deschamps.
Hugo Lloris, the long-serving captain of Les Bleus, announced his retirement from international football earlier this week, but Deschamps has yet to designate a replacement.
Who Deschamps will select to lead the FIFA World Cup champions moving forward has generated a lot of discussion in response to this.
Rothen thinks Deschamps won’t choose Mbappe as France’s next captain, though, because the ex-Monaco star is too vocal.
“If it was me, Mbappé would be the new captain of the Blues. But knowing Didier Deschamps and his mode of operation, I think he will not put him as captain,” Rothen said on the football podcast Rothen s’enflamme (translated from French to English by Twitter.
“Why? Because he does just too much noise.”
