Fernandes is a solid leader, according to Martinez, who also noted that he is very upbeat in the locker room.
Recall that Harry Maguire’s captaincy of Man United was just revoked by manager Erik ten Hag.
In preparation for the forthcoming new season, Ten Hag then named Fernandes as Man United’s new captain.
Martinez was cited by Metro UK as saying: “It is the coach’s decision and we need to respect it. When asked about Ten Hag’s decision to remove Maguire from his role as Man United captain this summer. He is in charge.
“If he takes the decision, as a player we need to keep going. Bruno is a good leader and a good person as well. He is really positive in the dressing room and I think he deserves it.”
