Davido expressed his surprise at the song’s Top 5 ranking on the charts.
The young artist Rema has received praise from David Adeleke, better known as Davido, a superstar in Nigerian music, for his most recent triumph there.
Being the first Nigerian song to spend a year on the U.S. Billboard, Rema’s “Calm Down” remix with Selena Gomez recently made chart history.
Davido recently discussed the achievement and expressed his surprise that the song hit the Top 5 on the charts in an interview with UAE’s The Kris Fade Show.
Davido acknowledged his awe at the rapid expansion of Afrobeat globally and his satisfaction in seeing performers like Rema thrive in other nations.
He said,
“Years ago, I’d never ever think a Nigerian artiste would have a Top 5 record in America. Rema has had Top 5 records in America for like, the past eight months, non-shaken. Everybody has dropped but he’s in Top 5”
In other developments, renowned artist Davido accepted an apology from Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, also known as AY, for making an offensive joke about him.
The comedian made fun of Davido during his performance at the “Warri Again” concert in Delta State by making allusions to the singer’s numerous baby mamas.
